4. Write to your local MP
If you write a letter in support of expanding the curriculum and protecting arts and technology in schools, you could make a real difference. If you write more than one letter, or can make your case in person, that would be even more effective.
We want as many people as possible to take action. You could write to your local MP. You could also write to the Education Select Committee members. A letter is better than an email.

Top tips for writing your letter
- Introduce yourself and the organisation/s you work for and with (tell them if you are a parent).
- Tell them why the arts and technology in schools should be protected in your community
- Give practical, tangible examples of where the arts and technology in schools has enhanced your community – either through regeneration (contributing to jobs or place-making), health outcomes or improving community cohesion
- Describe any decline of the arts and technology in schools that you have personally seen and why a narrow curriculum and accountability measures have a negative effect in your local area: be as specific as you possibly can
- Use the arguments and evidence from the #SaveOurSubjects website to make a broader argument, showing the national decline and the value of the arts and technology.
- If you work in arts education, invite them to come and see your work in practice and ask if you can meet with them in person.
